Thank you to all of you who answered my Instagram stories poll last week about what you’d prefer to see on the blog for this weeks Weekly Round-Up. Most of you answered our kitchen remodel, but so many were also interested in abstract artists. So, next Sunday August 5th check back here for Weekly Round-Up: Abstract artists.
To be honest I really haven’t shown our kitchen alot on the blog. It’s my least favorite room in our home, but where I spend the vast majority of my time. I do cook! I’m not a gourmet chef by any means but do pride myself on preparing meals for our family.
When we moved in we thought one day we’d remodel our kitchen and the stars just so happened to align. We are lucky to have an open floor plan with alot of cabinetry space. However, sometimes it feels like a cherry red bomb went off in here.
So what’s the plan? We are moving the vent and cooktop out of the center island. We purchased a Thermador 48 inch range and will replace the oven/microwave/warming drawer package on the adjacent wall with the new range and custom hood.
That will free up the center island to be more functional serving and eating surface. Also it will prevent a fire hazzard as I love to set my purse and a great big stack of mail right on those burners everyday 🙂 Over the new island we’ll hang two Hudson Valley Altamont pendant lights, and add three TBD bar stools.
Right now we have two windows above the kitchen sink. We’ll be adding one more to bring in more natural light. Above the new windows on the wall we’ll be hanging three Hudson Valley Garden City sconces.
Speaking of natural light we’ll be adding more by taking down the wall to the left of our fireplace. This is the view when you are facing the center of our home standing at the kitchen sink. We are going to remove this wall of cabinetry on the left-hand side, and open the wall in the hopes of creating symmetry and an easier walk through to our dining room.
We are going with Starmark Cabinetry. The entire kitchen will be white cabinetry, accept the kitchen island will be a light blue color called Shale. Somewhat similar to Sherwin Williams color Retreat as seen here in my friend Meredith Rodday’s powder room cabinetry.
We are updating the eat-in kitchen hutch. A new chandelier from Hudson Valley in brass will hang over a new TBD kitchen table. I’m so excited about these new Sunwashed Riviera chairs we received this week from Serena & Lily. We decided to wallpaper just the eat-in kitchen walls with navy grasscloth.
Below is a mood board I created of the space. We will be starting in August (fingers crossed!). I’m so excited to share the process with you all! Make sure you check back on my Instagram stories as I’ll be sure to share video updates of our progress there.
